Disconnect To Reconnect

May 24, 2026

For the first time in a long time, I stepped away from Instagram.

No daily quotes.

No stories.

No reels.

No pressure to constantly post.

And honestly… I think I needed it more than I realized.

Last week, I went to EDC Las Vegas — one of the biggest electronic dance music festivals in the world.

Three days.

Hundreds of thousands of people.

Little sleep.

Miles of walking.

Lights, music, energy, chaos, connection.

It was incredible.

But it was also a reminder of how overstimulated we’ve all become.

Not just from festivals.

From life.

Notifications.

Content.

Algorithms.

Endless scrolling.

Constant stimulation.

We’ve reached a point where many people don’t even know how to sit quietly with themselves anymore.

And stepping away from social media for a week reminded me how important it is to disconnect from the noise once in a while.

Not forever.

Not because social media is evil.

But because your nervous system needs space to breathe too.

Ironically, the less I focused on posting… the more connected I felt to my actual life.

To the music.

To friendships.

To conversations.

To presence.

To myself.

EDC also felt like the closing of a chapter for me.

Over the last couple years, I’ve crossed off so many DJs and festivals from my bucket list. I’ve traveled, danced, experienced incredible moments, and created memories I’ll never forget.

And while I’ll still enjoy local events and music here and there… I think this was my retirement from the massive three-day festival marathons.

Not because I’m “too old.”

Not because there’s anything wrong with it.

But because I’ve fully lived it.

There’s something beautiful about recognizing when a chapter feels complete.

And maybe that’s the message I want to leave people with this week:

Disconnect sometimes.

Step away from the noise.

Step away from the scrolling.

Step away from constantly consuming.

Go outside.

Travel.

Dance.

Breathe.

Spend time with people you love.

Sit in silence.

Reconnect with yourself again.

Your mind and nervous system will thank you for it.

The Medicine Isn’t Always What You Think

For months, most of Ontario has been stuck inside. Cold weather. Grey skies. Short days. And whether we realize it or not, it affects us. Then suddenly the sun comes out. The trails fill up. The patio
