Nature Doesn’t Care About Your Notifications

This past week I went camping.

No fancy resort.

No agenda.

No deadlines.

Just fresh air, campfires, fishing, hiking, good conversation, and the kind of peace that only seems to exist when you’re surrounded by trees.

Somewhere along the way, I forgot how much I love being outdoors.

Like many people, I got caught up in the noise.

The news.

Politics.

Social media.

The endless opinions and distractions competing for our attention every day.

But nature doesn’t care about any of that.

The trees don’t care who you voted for.

The lake doesn’t care what’s trending online.

The birds don’t care about your inbox.

Nature simply exists.

And when we allow ourselves to slow down long enough to be present with it, something shifts inside of us.

We remember who we are.

As a Breathwork facilitator, I often tell people that healing doesn’t always require doing more.

Sometimes it requires doing less.

Less scrolling.

Less worrying.

Less consuming.

Less noise.

Breathwork teaches us to return to ourselves through the breath.

Nature teaches us to return to ourselves through presence.

Both remind us of the same thing:

Everything we need is already here.

By the end of the trip, I wasn’t thinking about work.

I wasn’t thinking about social media.

I wasn’t thinking about the problems waiting for me when I got home.

I was simply grateful.

Grateful for the experience.

Grateful for the connection.

Grateful for the reminder that life doesn’t have to be so complicated.

And if I’m being honest, grateful for the person beside me.

Someone who embraces adventure.

Someone who is prepared for just about everything.

Someone who made the entire experience effortless and enjoyable.

Someone who reminded me how much life exists beyond four walls and a phone screen.

Sometimes passion doesn’t come from finding something new.

Sometimes it comes from rediscovering something you once loved with the right person beside you.

This trip reignited something in me.

A love for camping.

A love for adventure.

A love for spending more time outdoors.

And I can already tell it won’t be my last trip this summer.

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately, consider this your reminder:

Put the phone down.

Take a deep breath.

Go outside.

Sit by the water.

Walk through the woods.

Watch the sunset.

Listen to the birds.

Feel the wind.

Nature has a way of bringing us back to ourselves.

And sometimes, it reminds us that the best parts of life were never found on a screen.

They were waiting for us outside all along.
