The Medicine Isn’t Always What You Think

For months, most of Ontario has been stuck inside.

Cold weather.

Grey skies.

Short days.

And whether we realize it or not, it affects us.

Then suddenly the sun comes out.

The trails fill up.

The patios open.

The parks get busy.

People start smiling again.

This past week reminded me that healing doesn’t always come from where we expect it.

Sometimes it’s breathwork.

Sometimes it’s a workout.

Sometimes it’s a deep conversation.

And sometimes it’s as simple as getting outside.

Over the last few days I’ve spent more time in nature, more time walking, more time with my kids, and less time staring at screens.

Yesterday I took my kids to see Martin Garrix.

Watching them sing, dance, laugh, and experience something completely new reminded me of something important:

Presence is powerful.

Kids don’t care about your follower count.

They don’t care about your income.

They don’t care about your stress.

They care that you’re there.

Fully there.

The same thing applies to life.

We’re constantly looking for the next thing that’s going to make us feel better.

The next vacation.

The next purchase.

The next achievement.

Meanwhile, the things that regulate our nervous system are often right in front of us.

Sunlight.

Fresh air.

Movement.

Music.

Connection.

Laughter.

Gratitude.

The simple things.

As we move into the warmer months, my challenge to you is simple:

Spend less time consuming life and more time experiencing it.

Go for the walk.

Take the hike.

Watch the sunset.

Call a friend.

Take your kids somewhere fun.

Sit outside with your morning coffee.

The medicine isn’t always hidden.

Sometimes it’s been waiting for you outside all along.

Disconnect To Reconnect

May 24, 2026 For the first time in a long time, I stepped away from Instagram. No daily quotes. No stories. No reels. No pressure to constantly post. And honestly… I think I needed it more than I real
